Prafulla Chandra Ghosh first attended Jagannath College and then
moved to Dhaka where he graduated with B. A. (First Class First) and B. Sc
(Chemistry) in 1913. In 1916, he obtained his M. A. and M. Sc (Chemistry) as
first-class first in both. Immediately, he joined research in Chemistry at
Dhaka University. In 1919, he joined Presidency College, Calcutta as
Demonstrator. In Jan 1920, he started work at Calcutta Mint as ASA master and
he was the first Indian to be employed in that position. He was awarded a doctorate in 1920 in Chemistry by Calcutta University.

Bidhan Chandra Roy completed
his matriculation from Patna Collegiate School in 1897, obtained his I.A.
degree from Presidency College, Calcutta and B.A. from Patna College with
Honors in Mathematics. After completing his graduation in mathematics, he
applied for admission to the IIEST formerly BESU and the Calcutta Medical
College. His application was accepted by both institutions and he opted to pursue
medical studies. Bidhan left Patna on June 1901 to join the Calcutta Medical
College. He is one of the few people in history to have obtained F.R.C.S. and
M.R.C.P. degrees simultaneously. In India, the National Doctors' Day is
celebrated in his memory every year on 1 July. He was awarded Bharat Ratna on 4
February 1961, India's highest civilian honour.

Prafulla Chandra Sen started his
education in Bihar and passed the entrance exam to attend the R. Mitra
Institute in Deoghar. He then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree
from Scottish Church College in Calcutta.

Siddhartha Shankar Ray studied at, Mitra Institution, Bhowanipore
Branch, Calcutta, Presidency College, Calcutta, and University Law College, of
the University of Calcutta. In college and university, he was active in both
sports and politics. In 1939, he was the captain of the victorious Presidency
College football team which won both the Elliot and Hardinge Birthday Shields.

Jyoti Basu’s schooling started at Loreto School at
Dharmatala in Kolkata in 1920, and he was moved in 1925 to St. Xavier's School.
While admitting him to school. After completing school, Basu took an
undergraduate degree in English literature honours from Presidency College, The University of Calcutta. After completing his undergraduate studies, Basu left
for England to study law in 1935.

Buddhadeb Bhattacharya studied Bengali literature at the Presidency
College, Kolkata, and secured his B.A degree in Bengali (Honours).
Mamata Banerjee: (20 May

Mamata Banerjee completed the higher secondary board
examination from Deshbandhu Sishu Sikshalay in 1970. She did her Bachelor's in
History from the Jogamaya Devi College. Later she earned her Master's degree in
Islamic history from the University of Calcutta. This was followed by a degree
in Education from the Shri Shikshayatan College and a Law degree from the
Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College, Kolkata. She also received an honorary
doctorate from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar.[25] She
was also honored with a Doctorate of Literature (D.Litt.) degree by the
Calcutta University.
